Green Party member Jeremy Cloward has announced his intention to run against Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-Alamo) in the anticipated 10th Congressional District special election. The 10th District includes portions of Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano and Sacramento counties.

President Obama has nominated Rep. Tauscher to serve as Undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security in the State Department. If confirmed, a special election to replace her is expected to be held in Fall 2009.
