Green Party of California

Forum on Energy Policy

Goals

To start, and maintain, a statewide list and/or other active communications to discuss and form strategies on California energy policy - the overall goal being to move California forward with clean energy and to phase out dirty energy

An initial, and example, topic for this discussion will be to help cities and counties statewide to engage in moving forward Community Choice energy programs (link) which has become an immediate, and growing, movement in California but that needs more support to get it past current bureaucratic and corporate roadblocks that are preventing it from launching properly.

There are many other energy topics, and existing "energy-related" Green Party projects, that can also be included.

The first steps in this project are:

  1. Set up and admin/moderate an email list for communication about clean energy and related global warming issues (proposed name: GPCA_Clean_Energy)
  2. Recruit Greens to that list and keep them informed about Community Choice and other active clean/dirty energy issues in California which need immediate political action so that Greens can take part in organizing with other groups to help win campaigns toward these ends.
