GREEN PARTY OF MARIN NEWS RELEASE
For immediate release: February 4, 2004

Tremaine quote clarified

SAN RAFAEL - On January 29, 2004, Green Party of Marin Secretary John Anastasio, in a news release announcing the Green endorsement of Hal Brown for Second District Supervisor, because of an editing error, incorrectly quoted Fairfax Vice Mayor Lew Tremaine as indicating that he also was endorsing Brown.
Tremaine is not endorsing any candidate in this race. What he actually said was, ""The Greens who attended our Fairfax Library forum were impressed with Hal's past record of open space preservation and his solid committment to making Marin a leader in alternative energy. Hal's committment to passing a Community Choice Ordinance to help us bring cleaner energy to the county was a major factor in the Greens endorsement."

GREEN PARTY OF MARIN NEWS RELEASE

Greens endorse Charles McGlashan

SAN RAFAEL – The Green Party of Marin County Council has voted unanimously to endorse Charles McGlashan for County of Marin Third District Supervisor.
Fairfax City Councilman and Green Larry Bragman notes, "It will be a pleasure to work with a supervisor who shares many of our values, such as support for Instant Runoff Voting, campaign finance reform, and non-polluting forms of energy generation." Due in large part to McGlashan’s advocacy, the County, the Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) and the North Marin Water District (NMWD) are working jointly to study the economic and operational feasibility of aggregating their energy systems to increase the use and generation of renewable energy.
Jim Geraghty, Green Party of Marin Central Committee Member and Campus Greens Coordinator, said McGlashan’s leadership on the MMWD Board of Directors and Sustainable Mill Valley has helped make Marin County a leader in sustainability. "Charles worked hard to terminate plans to construct another pipeline to Sonoma County and chose instead to greatly increase water conservation, landscape awareness and greater use of native and drought tolerant plants."
McGlashan is keeping an open mind about building a desalination plant in Marin. He thinks it could help as a back-up source during droughts, but has concerns about the amount of energy and money it would take to operate it, and its impact on the Bay. "If potential impacts from the use of a plant are shown to be significant, then I will oppose the plant," he says.
We couldn’t agree more.

Greens endorse Hal Brown

SAN RAFAEL – The Green Party of Marin has endorsed Hal Brown for County of Marin Second District Supervisor. "Hal’s past dedication to protecting the environment coupled with his current commitment to follow through with Community Choice alternative energy legislation make him a good choice for Greens and all the voters of Marin County, " said Fairfax Vice Mayor and Green, Lew Tremaine.
Green Party of Marin County Council member, Justo Moscoso said Greens look forward to a board of supervisors that will take decisive action to make the county truly sustainable through the use of conservation and solar, wind and hydroelectric power generation, instead of using polluting, gas-fired "peaker" plants.
The Green endorsement followed a forum it held Tuesday night at the Fairfax Library with Second District supervisorial candidates Brown and Niccolo Caldoraro, a former Fairfax Town Council Member. The event was attended by approximately 35 district voters.
