GREEN PARTY OF VENTURA ANNOUNCES
ADRIENNE PRINCE AS CANDIDATE FOR 27th ASSEMBLY SEAT

The Green Party of Ventura is pleased to announce that, for the first time in several years, it will be fielding a partisan candidate in the 2004 primary elections for the 37th Assembly District, currently held by retiring assemblymember Tony Strickland of Moorpark.

Adrienne Prince, the Green Party candidate, completed her filing today after collecting nearly 150 signatures from local Green Party members to qualify for the ballot.

"I am thrileed to have qualified to run for the 37th Assembly District," stated Adrienne Prince. "In the past year, we have seen the worst of ugly politics in our state, culminating with the questionable use of the recall initiative to replace Democrat Governor Gray Davis with Republican Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger. Yet, both parties have equally contributed to the financial fiasco that embroils California. We need someone from Ventura County who represents the people, not corporate interests."

"The Green Party of Ventura has been rebuilding itself for the past several years," said Green Party of Ventura councilmember Betty Eagle, "and we are back to the point where we have the infrastructure to support a strong Green Party candidate."

Fellow Councilmember Teresa Dye concurred. "We are fortunate as well to have a strong candidate step forward to take this opportunity. Adrienne Prince is an ideal Green Party candidate who practices the Ten Key Values and who is familiar with the issues confronting all Californians in this time of budget cutbacks.

Councilmember Christopher Page states, "We look forward to having a true progressive representing Ventura County in the state legislature in 2005."
