Unlike many other political parties, the Green Party of California does not have traditional state party co-chairs.  Rather a team of officers and officials perform specific statewide roles.  They include:

Laura Wells

Laura Wells has run as a Green Party candidate for Congress, District 13, in 2018, for the California Governor in 2010, and for state Controller in 2022. Wells registered with the Green Party the year it gained ballot access in 1992. She was a member of the first Green Party County Council in Alameda County and in 2002, she co-founded Green Focus (the GPCA's official newspaper). Laura is an advocate for public banking and reforming old Prop 13, and electoral reform and was part of the 2006 campaign steering committee that achieved 69% voter approval of Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) in Oakland.

Wells has over 20 years experience in financial systems - investments, pension funds, union dues accounting, and real estate loans. She holds a B.A. from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI, Phi Beta Kappa), and an M.Ed. from Antioch University. She lives in Oakland, and has an adult daughter Natalia.

David Cobb

David Cobb served as the General Counsel for the Green Party from 1999-2004. During that time he helped multiple states navigate their Election Codes, and was one of the principal drafters of the historic FEC filing that culminated with GPUS being formally recognized as a National Committee. In 2000 he managed the Nader/LaDuke Presidential campaign in Texas, and in 2002 he ran for Attorney General of Texas. In 2004 he was the Green Party nominee for President himself, and in 2016 he served as the Campaign Manager for the Stein/Baraka campaign. David Cobb has served multiple terms on the Green Party of California Coordinating Committee, co-founded the Cooperation Humboldt and the Green Ecosocialist Network and is active in the ProRep Coalition as well as the Solidarity Economy movement, building community resilience through a number of local organizations.
